Co-Founder & Head of Operations
Along with being a Study Buddy herself, Anja is the Head of Operations at BTB, working to select qualified candidates for our wonderful team of Study Buddies and helping them to provide the best service for our students.

Miles
Managing Director
Miles works to help represent and expand the company at the local, national, and international level, recruit and manage student mentors, and encourage community involvement. In his spare time, he also mentors as a Study Buddy himself.
EMMY
Co-Founder & Director
Emmy is the Co-Founder & Director of Beyond the Book. She dabbles in a little bit of everything, but her main role at BTB is executing the vision–ensuring that BTB's dreams and goals turn into reality.
ZOYA
Head of Finance & Founding Member
Zoya develops BTB’s financial strategy and allocates funds to our various teams to optimize our value. She works within the community to apply for grants and seek out underwriting opportunities. She ensures the organization's financial security and find opportunities to optimize services.
CAROLINA
Head of Program Administration & Founding Member
In addition to being a Study Buddy, Carolina is the Head of Program Administration at BTB where she carefully matches students with our study buddies. Carolina works diligently to ensure she creates the perfect pairs in order to optimize learning and comfort.
ChAPTER LEADS
Molly
England Chapter Lead
Molly works to promote BTB, recruit new Study Buddies and expand the number of students in England. She loves reading and playing tennis in her free time. Additionally, she is a Study Buddy and enjoys sharing her passion for History and languages with others.
Sasha
England Chapter Lead
Sasha is a senior currently at school in London. She works to expand BTB across England and loves sharing her passion for maths and languages. She is eager to help her community through the provision of more accessible educational support!
allie
England Chapter Lead
Allie is a junior currently living and going to school in London. She loves English and all creative subjects and enjoys all sports especially lacrosse and gymnastics! In her free time, she likes watching movies with her family and playing with her pet chickens in the garden.
Taara
Bay Area, CA Chapter Lead
Taara is a junior at Menlo School in Atherton, CA. As the Bay Area Chapter Lead, she works to broaden Beyond the Book in her region by recruiting study buddies and students. She also mentors students. Her favorite subjects are English and History.
CHLOE
Jacksonville, FL Chapter Lead
Chloe is the co-lead of the BTB Jacksonville Chapter and works to grow and expand BTB in her region by recruiting Study Buddies and students. She loves connecting with people and is passionate about providing accessible educational help and resources to learners in her community. Her favorite academic subject is English and she enjoys art and running track.
MEIA
Jacksonville, FL Chapter Lead
Meia is a Sophomore at The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida. She enjoys every aspect of school, Math and English in particular. She loves to run and participates in cross country and track year-round. In her free time, she likes to hang out with her friends and sister at the beach. She is excited to help you with whatever you need, whether it be about school or life in general!
Study Buddies
ABBY
Abby is a junior at Menlo School in Atherton, CA. She went to Burlingame Intermediate School for middle school. She does soccer, lacrosse, and cross country at her school. Abby also does a mock trial. Her favorite classes are English and Physics, and her favorite flavor of ice cream is mint chip!
ADRIENNE
Adrienne is a senior at the Nueva School in San Mateo, CA. Her favorite subjects are English and Math, but she is excited to be a study buddy in any topic! In her free time, Adrienne loves reading, learning about economics, and volunteering. She is also a peer tutor for students at her high school. Adrienne is looking forward to working with you!
ANNA
Anna is a senior at Monta Vista High School. Her favorite subjects in school include English and science, and she has a passion for psychology and writing. She loves music, reading, spending time with friends, and meeting new people. As a Study Buddy, she is especially committed to acting as a source of both academic and moral support for other students.
ANNIKA
Annika is a junior at Castilleja in Palo Alto, CA. She loves all subjects in school, but has a real passion for Math and Science, which help her understand the world around her. Annika is also passionate about mental health and social justice in her community. Outside of school, Annika plays water polo competitively, and she loves playing with her dogs, reading, and listening to music. She can’t wait to work with you!
AMELIA
Amelia is a senior at Putney High School in London, England. Her favorite subjects are Math and Politics. She loves to play sports, especially tennis and cross country and in her free time, she loves to read and spend time with her friends!
ANISHA
Anisha is a freshman in high school. Her favorite subjects include Science and Art. Some of her hobbies are gymnastics, theater, and painting. She also enjoys baking and watching Netflix.
ANUSHA
Anusha is a senior at Castilleja School. She has a passion for all learning, but particularly Math and Science. Outside of school, she enjoys singing, volleyball, and exploring the outdoors. However, she especially loves working with kids through being a mentor, tutor, and camp counselor, and she'd love to work with you!
ARELI
Areli is a senior at Castilleja. Her favorite subjects are Math, Art, and Spanish. She is fluent in Spanish and loves doing school projects. In her free time, Areli likes to draw and paint cartoons for her friends.
ASPREY
Asprey is a sophomore at The Lawrenceville School. She loves all her classes and especially enjoys seeing how the lessons in school connect to real life. Her passions are hanging out with her friends, traveling, skiing, and indulging in the yummiest desserts in town. She is excited to meet you to help with homework or just to talk.
CHRISTINA
Christina is a senior at Sacred Heart Prep in Atherton, CA. Her favorite subjects are English, Spanish, and History. Outside of school, she loves to draw, listen to music, and row. She's excited to work with you!
CONSTANCE
Constance is a sophomore at The Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. She enjoys a variety of subjects–Math and Science in particular– and has experience tutoring a wide range of ages. In her spare time, Constance can be found singing in choir or on stage, riding horses and writing poetry and prose alike. She thrives off of meaningful, fun interactions and friendship, and can’t wait to be a study buddy!
EDWARD
Edward is a sophomore at Pinewood School located in Los Altos Hills. In his spare time, he likes to play the piano, oboe, and video games. His favorite subject is Math, and he looks forward to working with you.
ELEANOR
Eleanor is a sophomore (year 11) at Queen’s Gate School in London, England. Her favorite subjects are Math, Science (particularly Biology), and French. She enjoys debating and baking cupcakes with her sister. She is very dedicated and committed to swimming which she believes will be a great contribution to you and your children. She can’t wait to be your Study Buddy!
Elisabeth
Elisabeth is a senior at the Lawrenceville School in New Jersey. Her favorite subjects are Math and Science, but she enjoys them all. She loves to play hockey and lacrosse. When she is not at school or practice, she can be found playing with her dog or spending time with her friends. She also loves to go to the beach in the summer.
ELLIOT
Elliot is a junior at Gunn High School in Palo Alto. In his free time, he loves to get involved in his community by volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club and his school's Youth Community Service program. He also enjoys playing basketball, mountain biking with friends, and playing with his dog. His favorite subjects are Math and Science and he can't wait to meet you.

GAbriel
Gabriel is a junior at Palo Alto High School who thoroughly enjoys history and sociology while also taking interest in art and foreign affairs. He is a member of the Model UN club and likes to use history to understand how we have gotten here in the world. In his free time he likes to hang out with his friends digitally, walk his labradoodles, and play video games. Gabe has 3 siblings and he and his is originally from Australia.
GODA
Goda is a sophomore in the Monroe Township High School, Monroe, New Jersey. Her favorite subjects are history and math. She love volunteering, painting, cooking & baking. Goda is passionate about helping others and making the world a better place. She is excited to be a part of this organization and a study buddy.
JANE
Jane is a senior at the Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. She lives in Washington, DC. Her favorite subjects are math, science, and Spanish. In her free time, Jane loves to spend her time outside with friends and family. She loves listening to music, watching ice hockey, and crafting. Jane has tutored and worked with kids ranging from PK-8 and is looking forward to meeting new people!
JILLIAN
Jillian is a sophomore at Castilleja in Palo Alto, CA. Her favorite subjects in school are History and Math. In her free time, Jillian loves to horseback ride, read, bake, and learn about other cultures. She loves spending time with kids and has had experience working with all ages. She is so excited to meet you!

KATHERINE
Katherine is a junior at Castilleja School in Palo Alto, CA. While she loves all subjects, her favorites are Math, Computer Science, and Mandarin. She loves engaging and having fun with kids and has experience teaching. In her free time, she enjoys dancing, reading, arts and crafts, and playing games with family and friends. She looks forward to meeting you!
KAYLENE
Kaylene is a senior at Castilleja School in Palo Alto, CA. Her favorite subjects are Mandarin and Science. Outside of school, Kaylene participates in the performing arts and is also an active Girl Scout. She is so excited to be a study buddy and is happy to be working with Beyond the Book.
LEAH
Leah Beller is a senior at Aspen High School, in Aspen, CO. She is an avid biker, skier, and rock climber. Her favorite subjects include English and History. She is very excited to begin working with you.
LI-YEN
Li-Yen is a sophomore at Leigh High School. She loves computer science and engineering and her favorite subjects in school are math and science. In her free time, she likes writing short stories and taking online classes that are way too hard for her. She is fluent in Mandarin and highly skilled in all other subjects and is looking forward to working with you through any of them!
MAIA
Maia is a senior at Sequoia High School in Redwood City, CA. While she loves learning, Science, Math and History are her favorite subjects. In her free time Maia plays volleyball, loves to be creative through her school’s art program and travel. She is very excited to work with you!
MARGOT
Margot is a junior at Palo Alto High School in the Bay Area. She loves to read novels, write randomly, and spend time with her playful dog. She also likes watching funny shows like The Office and Parks and Rec. She enjoys all subjects in school, although she finds science and English a bit more fun than the rest.
Mercedes
Mercedes is a senior at The Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, NJ but is from Manila, Philippines. Science, Math, and English are her favorite subjects and she loves doing Computer Science in her free time. Her favorite things to do are ride motorcycles, travel, dance and play volleyball and touch rugby. She has experience tutoring grades 3-8 and she can’t wait to work with you!
MELODY
Melody is a junior at Palo Alto High School, where her favorite subjects are English, History, and Chinese. Outside of learning, she loves pen pal-ing, competing on her school's speech & debate team, creative writing, and playing the flute. She is super excited to be a BTB study buddy!
MIMI
Mimi’s favorite subjects are Math, English, and Science. She is from Chicago but is currently a senior at the Lawrenceville School. She plays soccer and squash and also doe crew. Mimi loves music and spending time with people.
MIRA
Mira is a senior at Menlo School and her favorite subjects are Math and Chemistry. She loves working with kids, and has a range of experience, from tutoring to babysitting, to making lesson plans for schools. In her spare time, Mira likes to dance, code, volunteer, bake, and spend time with her dog. Mira wants to spread her love for school with others and can't wait to be your study buddy!

Miraya is a junior at Castilleja School in Palo Alto, CA. Her favorite subjects are Math, English and Science. She has previous experience tutoring kids in both Science and Math. In her free time, Miraya enjoys playing volleyball, cooking and hanging out with her friends.

MONICA
Monica is a junior at Castilleja School in Palo Alto, CA. She loves English and Science, but she is especially passionate about law and the US criminal justice system and is currently a Leader-in-Training for the Castilleja Mock Trial Team. Outside of school, you can find Monica playing tennis, listening to music, playing the piano, and watching basketball!
Morgan
Morgan is a senior at the Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, New Jersey but is from New York City. Her favorite subjects are History and Math and she plays Water Polo as well as swims. In her free time, Morgan likes babysitting and going to the beach! She loves spending time with others and tries to as much as she can.
Neela
Neela is a senior at Palo Alto High School in California. She is passionate about learning as a whole, and specifically enjoys math and English. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, listening to music, and hanging out with friends. She is super excited to start teaching and meeting new kids!
NINA
Nina is a senior at Castilleja School in Palo Alto, CA. She loves to swim, travel, learn new languages, and do her part for the environment. She enjoys all subjects in school, but specifically languages and STEM. She can't wait to meet you!
NOA
Noa is a senior at Castilleja School in Palo Alto, CA, and her favorite subjects are Math, English, and French. Outside of school, she plays soccer and works in photography! Driven by her love for kids’ energy and curiosity, Noa has experience working with and tutoring young kids and high school students.

Reena is a senior at Menlo School in Atherton, CA, and her favorite subjects are Math, Chemistry, and Computer Science, but she really enjoys all of her classes! In her free time, Reena plays basketball and runs track, and she also likes to cook and bake with her family. Reena is passionate about learning and helping others achieve their goals. Sara is a junior at Castilleja School in Palo Alto, CA. Her favorite subjects in school are English, History and Math. Outside of school she spends her time reading, doing robotics, and writing.
Shannon
Shannon is a senior at Menlo School in Atherton, CA. She loves all subjects, but especially English and STEM. In her free time, she enjoys playing basketball, baking pastries, playing with her dog, and traveling to new places. She is excited to start this experience and meet new people, and can’t wait to be your study buddy!
SHERI
Sheri is a senior at Tustin High School. Her favorite subjects are English, Spanish, and History. She loves to play tennis, bike ride, and spend time with family and friends. Reading outside of school is one of her favorite hobbies. She has experience volunteering at local elementary schools and loves spending time with younger kids. Sheri is excited to be a part of BTB.
SONIA
Sonia is a junior at Castilleja School in Palo Alto, CA. While she enjoys all subjects, her favorites are Math, English, and French. She has previous experience working with kids as a tutor for the Boys and Girls’ Club of the Peninsula. After school, you can find Sonia writing for the school newspaper, playing tennis, or spending time with her puppy and siblings!
SOPHIA
Sophia is a senior at the Nueva School and is interested in Engineering, Physics, and Math. She is a part of her school's FRC robotics team and varsity cross country team. In her free time, she loves to write music, play piano, and sing.
SYDNEY
Sydney is a senior at Menlo School in Atherton, CA. She loves all subjects but specifically English, History, and Math. She plays volleyball for her school team, does mock trial, and participates in her school's musicals. In her free time, she loves to sing, bake, and spend time with her family and friends. She is passionate and excited about being a study buddy and has experience being a tutor and a babysitter. She can't wait to work with you.
THEODORE
Theodore is in 13th grade at Brighton College. The subjects he has chosen to study are Maths, English, Mandarin, History and Russian. Theodore has many hobbies, however, he most of all enjoys playing the piano, drawing, reading and spending time with his friends. In his spare time, Theodore enjoys reading different articles on Human Rights Law and Criminal Law.
THIRZA
Thirza is currently in Year 11 (Grade 10), and lives and goes to school in London. Her favorite subjects are Geography and History, but she enjoys a wide range of others too. In her free time, Thirza enjoys baking, spending time with her friends, and playing squash.
Vanessa
Vanessa is a sophomore (year 11) at Queen’s Gate School in London, England. Her favorite subjects are history, classical civilization, and English. She enjoys sports particularly netball and fencing! In her free time, she likes to cook (especially pasta!) and go on long walks with her dog. She is excited to be your study buddy!
VIVIENNE
Vivienne is a senior at Castilleja School in Palo Alto, CA and has experience mentoring grades 1-8. While she enjoys delving into all subjects, her favorite subjects are Math and Science (and she loves exploring their intersections with our everyday lives). Outside of school, she spends much of her time dancing competitively and spending time with her friends and family. She is so excited to work with you!
Winnie
Winnie is a freshman at Castilleja School in Palo Alto, CA. She enjoys all subjects in school but her favorites are History and English, which help her see the beauty and history of the world. She is fluent in Chinese and loves learning about languages. Some of her hobbies include reading, cooking, and baking. She's very excited and committed to working with you as a Study Buddy!

Yonu is a junior at Castilleja School in Palo Alto, CA. Her favorite subjects are English and Math. She is a 2020 Scholastic Writing Awards Gold Key Recipient who loves all things grammar! When Yonu is not writing short stories or solving geometric proofs, you can find her playing tennis outside, having drawing competitions with her little sister, or eating a falafel sandwich!
